"Managing Panic in a Pandemic"

I knew "Public trust is a big issue" before, and I think it is important also. However, I think some goverments will use this as an excuse to ban the information from getting out of the region. Thus, the urgency may not be solved immediatedly.

KIVA

I tried KIVA, a microloan company which I heard of last year but never try. Each KIVA user can lend money to local entrepreneurs in developing countries. However, as I have seen, the average repayment is slightly lower than the amount you lent, so users may lose their money. The experience makes me know the power of international transaction via internet, and micro lenders in developed countries can make effects on micro-borrowers in developing countries. Also, new social ventures can use… Continue

Wedding-2020

In 2020, my best friend gets married with his coworker, and their wedding is in a glass-builded restaurant, called "Glassolar." The roof is covered with solar panel, so the church can power itself. The glass structure save the energy for lighting. Also, the various color of light is made by reflecton through the glass. By turning the glass window to have different angle with sunshine, a great variety of light colors are made. Moreover, solar power is collected to heat the foos, so no natural… Continue

GYM POWER

Want to shape your body? Want to save money on electricity?

Now you can achieve the two wish in one machiene.

GYM POWER

I think a combination of sport facilities, such as treadmill, and power generator. When you run to shape your body, you burn out your fat and create electricity! For example, a treadmill is connected to a power generator with a capacitor. So after the excercise, your cell phone or ipod can get charged. It also can connected to household power system, and then… Continue

Social Entrepreneur-2020

I think I will be flying between Asia, America, or Africa when Alchemy call on me on 2020. I own a multinational business which utilizes resources in developing countries to create some novel products selling in developed countries. The profits are reinvested in improving the living in developing countries, such as water, health, or education. To deal with the food crisis, my business can sell some food from Africa to Japan.

ACT1-Craig Esbeck of Mango Tree

I choose Craig Esbeck as my hero and I use Facebook to contact him. I also interviewed him through emai (since this is my HW of a class). The following is some intro of his company.

Having v.s. Not having

What you have matters more than what you lack (If you’ve got a bicycle, consider what you can build based on that, rather than worrying about not having a car, a truck, a metal shop.

We may not invent new technology, but we will find a new way to use technology.

Since the place we are working may be isolated and has its own culture, we cannot just transplant the technology in developed countries to the developing countries. We should use the resources we already have…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
