THere is a current money scheme going on in the village of Ugenya called the revolving fund. it was started by 10 women who are retired Teachers who have come up with a way of creating money through serious hard work and strict saving habits.

This women after trying out this scheme on their own have discovered that it is possiible for it to work out in large scale . THis is the reason why they have started a community bank.

Free education for all

Beyond access: Quality education for life - Special podcast for the United Nations Girls' Education Initiative

The above topic was my favorite. Free primary education for all is key to the growth of any country. In my country free compulsory education is being implemented.Despite the fact that its happening in my country , we still have a lot of challenges. Just the other day it was discovered that millions of Kenya shillings was being stolen from the free primary education fund. Some… Continue

A city without pollution

This is the hardest task yet .I have tried to use the map but i i can not open the link provided but i am hoping you can visualize with me.I am not sure how this would look on a map. My city would look as follows.

I would create underground transportation both road and rail.this means we will only see cars from private and public means underground. Everyone will walk form where they have parked their cars and bus stops to work ,this will ensure that everyone will exercise at least a few… Continue

Clean toilets for the worlds poor as we produce gas.

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/health/jan-june10/kenya_04-14.html

The link above is one of my favorites when it comes to innovative ways of creating energy. In this slam called mathare in kenya. Some organization has come up with innovative ways of creating gas for cooking. THey built toilets because sanitation was a major problem and it is free and maintained by the youths who leave there . THe catch is that… Continue

Instant update on your mobile

Most people especially the Y-Generation are not really into this thing of Technology so i would approach the schools especially primary schools. Our team would create a very exciting game that would intrige the young kids to download on their parents phones. Then the catch is that if you download the game then you activate automatically the instant messaging. This way we send regular SMS updates on the flu pandemic and the parents will be able to read anyway on their phones.

How people react in a pandemic?

I choose this topic because i have first hand experience. One time i went to Europe , the czech republic to be specific for a conference. While i was there we had people from all over the world it was fantastic. When i got back to kenya one person who was coming from the states wrote an email to everyone saying that when he got back to his country he was diagnosed with swine flu. I have never been so distressed. When i told my colleagues they also started panicking and immediately i was given… Continue

Make it inexpensive

I have chosen to write on the topic above.i believe in the 80/20 rule.In business If we invest in 80% of the population and sell stuff that has a reasonable price then our turnover will be soo much as compared to investing in the 20% whereby we selling expensive stuff we can only sell to a a few people . This is mostly luxury products. The same way if you organise a big group of poeple say for a fund raiser for some kind of project, the collection will be more and also word will get out more… Continue

This is what i call killing 3 birds with one stone.

I actually saw this on a doc**entary ,a guy who has a very nice classy bicycle in his kitchen. One would wonder why.He has connected a motor on his bicycle and this motor powers all his kitchen machines like the blender.
The guys says that instead of wasting time in the gym he would rather exercise in his kitchen ,reduce on his electricity bills by using the motor and at the same time enjoy his fresh juice after the exercise.

So near Yet soo Far.

For this years World Water day we have agreed that the activity that will be done will be to how many hours we can last outside standing in the sun with bottles of mineral water in our hands but that catch is we are not allowed to drink even a drop.
WE would like to see how many people would actually do this .(Hopefully its a very hot day)

Change is the only constant thing in the world.

Change is inevitable that is tthe reason why in my dream , i see a world where each individual will take up the challenge and do the little things that will make a great difference in our world, our time.

THe topics that i would liek to see in the next season would include.tackling the problem of Brain Drain in Africa, the education System and also looking at how we as individuals can change our mind set towards positive thinking and thinking outside the box and beyond.

I would also… Continue

Ignorance will kill us

You will be shocked about how people do not have time to think about their environment and how everyone is so individualistic. Everyone thinks about themselves in the urban areas. I think everyone is too busy thinking about what they are going to eat ,how they are going to pay school fees, rent and those other basic needs that they forget the very important things that will eventually affect their lives and the lives of their children.THeir is a black american philanthropist who is living near… Continue

THe swamp town.

I think Ushahidi is one of the most successful blogs i have ever come accross. The way it works is that in case there is any emergencies or something happening that is urgent.they put markers on the map and if more and more people comment on it the more the markers. This will send an alert to the security people, the government or even an emergency rescue to go and do something about the situation.

Now This can easily be used locally whereby near a town or estate i leave in there are so… Continue

Preservation of my native Language

THe year is 2082 its my 100th Birthday..I am going to be awarded by the world body organisation on preservation of culture.

In My country we have over 42 languages and when i was in my 20's it was the order of the day for people form different communities marrying people form other communities. THe story of the Ogiek

The case sturdy that talks about "CULTURAL VIABILITY CAN BE SAFEGUARDED THROUGH CONTINUED HABITATION AND USE OF TRADITIONAL LAND (PERU)" is what has inspired me. I believe that those people who have decided to preserve there culture and not move with the times should be treated with the same rights as those people leaving a modern life.

Please check out these link it has all there is to know about the Ogiek community. Very interesting in deed…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
