THE SCRIPT FOR EPISODE 2: Petroleum Substitute

.

KIBERA(in Kenya. Its 9.24 pm)

(At the construction site, the generator runs out of gasoline, work has stoll and the workers are just lounging waking jokes of their bosses)

PANEL A

There is a black out in the city. Everyone has gone out of buildings wondering what’s happening. Its 10pm on a Saturday. In a few seconds , the upper part of town come
back to life because there are generators which can last up to 4
hrs. Many of the businesses are closing down anticipating chaos because of the
black out.

TEXT BOX 1

Back at Nyangi’s home everyone is sitted ready to watch the movie that she has been anticipating for the last two weeks. Breaking news appears on the television. The news anchor reports,( its rather
unfortunate that what we have been afraid of is coming true. The next shipment
of crude oil will be coming to the country the next three months. Currently the
price of petrol has shot up 5 times and transport costs have become very
expensive immediately there was a black out in the city centre. The government
spokesman has confirmed that this black out is as a result of trying to
minimize consumption of electricity especially during a time when the city
is not very busy .Also there is going to
be a power rationing in all households from 6am to 7pm every day. All this
energy is going to be re-directed to all industries that need energy on a
24hour basis at some extra costs. The industrial community talked to our news
producer earlier today saying that they anticipate a huge increase in price of
all locally produced commodities. They do blame the government for not acting
earlier after an alert was sent to all African countries by the EVOKE community
about the coming energy crisis that is going to hit Africa.

NYANGI

You see this is what I have been saying all along. Thank GOD I have solar in place.

COLLINS

Wow how did you know this was gonna happen? Can I move in, I can’t leave without electricity in my house?? (Giggling)

NYANGI

It only means that you do not watch news or even read the news paper.

COLLINS

I saw something like this on the internet but was not so keen I didn’t think it would actually affect me.

PANEL B

TEXT BOX 2

(Back in the city centre. At the entrance of a local bar, there is an argument between a bouncer and a drunk guy who went out to see what was happening but came back just to be denied access in. Chaos breaks out,
suddenly there is a fight and everyone runs there to see what’s happening.
Reporters are already there scavenging for any news they can be able to gather
in this crisis.

NYANGI

Check this out Collins you’ll see my watch blink in 5, 4,3,2,1

TEXT BOX 2

The watch actually blinks in 5 seconds and Nyangi excuses herself.

COLLINS

(Confused) how did you know, what do you do??

(Nyangi goes to her office and locks the door.)

PANEL C

She opens her mainframe computer and connects to alchemy then a 3D image of alchemy appears and they start to talk.

ALCHEMY

What’s your code name??

NYANGI

Disolar.

ALCHEMY

It has finally happened now they will listen to us.

NYANGI

Yaap I am actually waiting for their call in a short while. The petroleum they have in stock will not last three weeks .In fact even after three weeks there is no guarantee that they will get that shipment. It
might be hijacked by other countries that are experiencing the same crisis.

ALCHEMY

What do you suggest?

NYANGI

We wait for their call they will call me.

(True to the word they call NYANGI on her cell phone and put them on the speaker phone.)

PERSONAL SECRETARY

Please old as a put you through to the president.

NYANGI

Woow the president ALCHEMY did you hear that.

PRESIDENT

Good evening NYANGI, sorry to interrupt your night. How are you doing?

NYANGI

Wow very well, forgive me but you don’t sound like our president. Which country would you be calling me from.

PRESIDENT

Sorryabout that, I am PAUL KAGAME the president of Rwanda and I m in the EVOKE network, I saw that you put me as one of you allies and I also had about the
warnings that you and your network gave your government. We would like to offer
you a job in my government.

(NYANGI got confused and went silent.)

TEXT BOX 3

(ALCHEMY texted Nyangi on the main frame and told her to ask for at least 6 hours to consult then she will get back to him.)

NYANGI

Mr. President I am very honored that you think that I have a lot to offer in your country, However I would like to request for 6 hours to consult then I will get back to you .

PRESIDENT

Well, NYANGI you know how I work .I do not waste time but I have seen what you can do and I want to bet on you so I accept. You have 6 hours to respond my assistant will call you. Thank you and have a good
night.

NYANGI

Before you leave sir I would le to ask what this job would be about.

PRESIDENT

Sustainable and clean energy. I know that this is your specialty.

NYANGI

Thank you Mr. President .I will get back to you soonest.

(The phone goes off)

ALCHEMY

Well done, so what happens now?

NYANGI

I don’t know! if I go I cannot longer be your EVOKE AGENT in Kenya.

ALCHEMY

Unless you decided to negotiate it with him. What about your country? What if the president calls you to implement what you had proposed? NYANGI I called you because we have a crisis in the city and I need
you to go and investigate.

NYANGI

There is a black out right?

ALCHEMY

I think we need to talk to your government .They are too slow and they do not know how to communicate. They should have informed people that the rationing was to start today instead of just doing it like
that. There is a lot of chaos right now in town. Take a look. (Alchemy shows
her a clip)

(There is a knock on the door)

COLLINS

There are some people at the door claiming that they are from State house and they want to talk to you. They saw they have been sent by the president to come get you.

ALCHEMY

That is your cue.

NYANGI

Yaap I’ve got to go

ALCHEMY make sure you keep me connected so that I can hear all they say and ensure that you have your mic on so that I can communicate with you at all times.

NYANGI

OK here I come

(Collins is puzzled he doesn’t know what’s happening)

PANEL D

Outside there is a very long black limo with 5 huge guys dressed in black. My neighbours all came out to see who it was.

NYANGI

So where are we going? Do I have to dress up ?

CID AGENT 1

No this is fine. Let’s go , we are supposed to take you to states house, the president and the cabinet are waiting for you .

NYANGI

FINALLY what took you soo long? Let me put on my jean and nice t-shirt; I can’t go with my shorts.

CID AGENT 2

No time we have to go now!!!

NYANGI

Ok let me pick my laptop.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
