future of money

I really think the community development banks initiative will continue to make major impacts in the world. Not only are the rural poor given an opportunity to requests loans and make use of their skills which were underutilized due to lack of funding but also brings local community members together. This initiative is already making an impact in various places like bangladesh and grahamstown south africa.

Power shift

Nothing big but I was thinking more on the lines of recharging cellphone batteries and any rechargable battery using dynamos built into the hub of ones bicyle. So as you cycle or do the bikes at gym you recharge your battery at the same time. Just by attaching the battery to the dynamo.

World water day 2020

Just a general idea of what I have in mind.

In 2020 all countrys will be urged to take part in the world water day challenge as an attempt to reduce water wastage around the world.

For world water day 2020 the challenge will be as follows: Each participating household will be allowed a certain amount of water to be spent in that day (sort of like a quota). The household will carry out its daily activities and it should make a record of how the water was used and how much of it…

water crisis

Many desert countries lie on coasts, surrounded by unusable salt water. A beetle in desertous Namibia has come up with one way to satisfy thirst: Every morning it climbs to the top of a sand dune, where it turns its body into the wind, straightens its rear legs, and lowers its head. Fog rolling in from the sea gradually collects on its back, forming droplets of water, which slide down into the insect's mouthparts.…

I would be celebrating new years 2020. I would be celebrating it at home with friends and family. The house will be mainly powered by solar power as Namibia is a relatively sunny place. The geysers will run on biogas and so will the airconditioning. A large component of the food prepared will be a result of organic agriculture.

biggest challenge to food security

One of the biggest challenges to food security in Grahamstown (eastern cape-South africa) is the high unemployment rate which is currently hovering at around 70%. People are struggling to feed their families especially when they spend most of their time job hunting which proves to be unsuccesful most of the time especially now when most industries closed down.

One of the major projects currently running to help fight food problems are the…

Shadowing an innovator

The innovator I chose to shadow is Mr Mohamed Yunus who is a Bangladeshi economist and banker. He developed the concept of microcredit whereby loans where given to entreprenuers who are too poor to qualify for bank loans. He is also the founder of Grameen Bank. I chose him because his approach to social development is one which has potential of being sustainable in the long term and truely empowering poor people, especially women. Instead of giving out money or ignoring the issue at hand, he…

This is in order to make Namibia the place to be and an example for other developing countrys to follow. Projects will involve creating efficient and effective health and education systems. Also I will be involved in major deals with various companies and investors for funding for these projects. AMongst all this I will be enjoying…

Social Innovation

Being a Social innovator involves coming up with new strategies and ideas that meet social needs and that are sustainable over the long term. Its about understanding and producing social change and ultimately creating an environment where people become empowered and self dependent.

The secrets that caught my attention were "provide skills not just finished technologies" and "understand".

Providing skills lead people to become independed and move away from being depended…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
