A crash course in changing the world.
To act on the problem of food security, I watched A Place at the Table. It showed me the problems of food insecurity in America. It is a 2012 doc**entary that highlighted that 50 million Americans were food insecure. This large figure include children, working people, and college students. 1 in every 2 children need some kind of federal food assistance. Even in Gainesville, the public schools fund at least 80% of the students' lunches either partially or all of it. The doc**entary featured three people's stories and countless other examples. One single mom who wants to save up to go to college, but cannot even afford groceries for a wh*** month. A young student Rosie who never knows where her next meal is coming from. She relies on the charity of fellow friends and neighbors. They also featured a second grader with health problems that are increased by the non-nutricous food her parents can afford. The doc**entary opened my eyes to the problems in my own society. I have never had to worry about where my next meal came from or if I could afford my food. It surprised me that it is such a problem here in American because I thought of it as a problem in other countries.
