To take out a thorn from a lion's foot , use a thorn itself and not a nail - A.V.Koshy

The soft word that turns away wrath is the hardest hammer to wield - Solomon (rewritten)

A beautiful woman can walk on water and still the rising floods - Anon.

PANEL A

MG road. Sunset. There are, as usual, many people walking on the footpaths and the traffic is at its peak. The neon and LED billboards are on. On the largest electronic billboard is a public service announcement of the Metro's inaugration. There’s Brigade Road stretching down from where the eye leads. Then IT happens. There is the sound of a sudden explosion. Follows; a hush, a deathly silence for a full ten seconds. The first metro train's run has been blown up right in the most critical part of the city, its very heart. MG Road. The carnage of death with its screams fills the air seconds later. More than 250 dead? Precious lives snuffed out in a second. The spectre of terrorism walking the streets again.

OFF-PANEL 2
Karnataka Chief Minister: You’re certain that they exist?

PANEL B

A sunset panorama of Buenos Aires. Panamericana's posture indicates that he is deep in thought. Seated in a room.Like Rodin's thinker.

A.V.Koshy's voice emanating from the comp nearby:

"Because we need real help this time, PAN, not a comic. Even with you guys coming here, the situation will still be explosive."

Pan: "Koshy, it’s not just us. Evoke4ever and your other Indian evokers are in on this too. Michele. Everyone is coming down."

Koshy:

I can't let this happen again, Pan.

PANEL C
A shot of Koshy's office. "The key light is the setting sun coming through it at an almost horizontal angle." Koshy has turned away from the view and is facing Samiran who paces nervously.
Samiran: Delta was responsible for saving Evoke despite Pan's eviction. They’ve never taken credit. They never do.

Koshy (laughs momentarily):

You were there, remember. It would have been boring as hell without them.

Karamveer (also very much there):

You have to send out an EVOKE, Koshy.

PANEL D

Close up on Samiran.

Samiran:
It has to come from you.

PANEL E

Close up on Koshy.

Koshy:

Ok. Gimme the console.

PAGE 2

PANEL A

"We see the message sent on the private, encrypted short message network. It is surrounded by a texture of ambient data, and layered on top of a map of Buenos Aires and a red locator dot is over it."

MESSAGE TEXT: This is an EVOKE from Bangalore. "Urgently require tactical social innovation deployment." Category: Terrorism

PANEL B:

TEXT BOX 1

"A high-tech surveillance room. Computer and video screens relay news and images from all over the world. The star display is a digital world map, covered with data. We can see that the message from the previous panel is a small part of this map. In the foreground is Koshy, wordsmith, in silhouette, sitting at a desk with a keyboard, a laptop, and a pencil and paper in front of him. He wears a wireless headset."

INSET PANEL C

KOSHY:

Hello, world.

PANEL D

"On one screen we see a picture of " Michele B, "captioned with EVOKE MEMBER CODENAME: EMBER. A touch-screen button underneath her dossier says “ACTIVATE”." It lights up.

PAGE 3

PANEL A

TEXT BOX: USA. "A music hall. Michele is in the middle of a song. The lecture hall is full of listeners, all watching her with rapt attention. In the front row is a student wearing a t-shirt that says “I believe EVOKE is real” in Helvetica. Also seen in the music hall are several giant screens, from which still more watch and listen in rural settings. A brochure in somebody's hand reads “Resilient Music”. Each of these next three scenes should be tinted with the color tone of the character. Michele is fair, so this scene should have a palette that features greens and blues."

PANEL B

Michele 1
"O no not I, I will survive..."

PANEL C

Phone rings

Close up on Michele, looking at the phone.

Michele:
"Excuse me, I'll finish the song next week..."

The audience is non-plussed.

PANEL D

Michele picks up the phone and opens the laptop secretively as her audience files out. In the background, two people whisper as they leave.

AUDIENCE 1
What do you bet she pulls another one of her disappearing acts?

MICHELE
Ember here, Kosh.

PANEL E

KOSHY 1 (splitscreen him in)
It’s me, Michele. There’s a problem in Bangalore. I’m sending you also in.

MICHELE
B'lore?!! How am I supposed to keep a low profile ?! I don’t exactly pass for an Indian girl.

KOSHY 3
You have to be creative.

PANEL F

Michele 1
Is it a food shortage? "Citizen X has been posting leaked government memos all over the web" on India.

Koshy 2
Citizen X is a creative, inventive, dynamic, free org but this time they got it wrong. I don’t know why you don't like them. No, it's terrorism. The Maoist Reds, the Dalits, the Muslims, the Christians and the Pink Chaddi campaigners http://thepinkchaddicampaign.blogspot.com/ are all being blamed but none of them are claiming responsibility for the attack so there's some hanky panky going on somewhere. But we’re going to find out and fix it. We have to.

PAGE 4

PANEL A

TEXT BOX: Bueno Aires

We are in a small room. Outside a window in the background, we can see a billboard with the EVOKE logo and the tagline “It could be anyone.” In the extreme foreground is a silver pistol with the insignia sss on it. It's a beautiful handcrafted piece with engraving on it of a very high quality. The color palette for this scene is violet. SARAH O.Connor (EUREKA), operating a laser gun device, removes a safety visor from her face. She is talking on a phone, a laptop open on the desk in front of her. She looks beautifully sexy, sad and tough.

SARAH
Is it just Bangalore, or do you want us to handle the other cities, too?

Koshy's voice:
We'll fix Bangalore first. Then we'll see.

PANEL C

Still in the Buenos Aires room. Sarah has a backpack in her hand.

KOSHY

How soon can you leave?

INSET PANEL D

Close up on Sarah.

EUREKA 1
Give me an hour.

PANEL E

A reverse shot from overhead. Eureka has the backpack still in hand. "In front of her is a wall bristling with tools and weapons of all kinds. The tools range from low-tech (wrenches, hammers, pliers, etc) to super high-tech devices with graphical displays, lasers for topographical maps, RFID sensors, to precision devices like micrometers. The idea is an overwhelming juxtaposition of a variety of weapons and tools. She takes her bow and arrow, the one used by her friend she had posted a pic of nearly an year ago, and slings it over her back.http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/archery-indigenous-food

SARAH

I just needed to pack up my babies, Koshy.

PAGE 5

PANEL A

TEXT BOX: PERU

We are outside a small farm. A simple sign identifies this location as the Evoke4ever Collective. In the foreground is Radhika, standing at a table with her laptop and phone on it. A little ways behind her (out of earshot), MoE, Elastika,Ternura and MAK watch a helicopter piloted by PANAMERICANA becoming visible in the distance and coming closer every minute. The tint for this sequence is indigo (goth noir mood).

RADHIKA
How bad is the situation?

KOSHY
I’m sending you a detailed brief.

PANEL B

RADHIKA’s laptop screen shows a cascade of data under the heading EVOKE 001385:

A map generated by USHAHIDI showing all the points of curfew.
A News headline: Bangalore silent as a grave.
Unopened pdf File watermarked with “leaked by Citizen X” - WHODUNIT?"

OFF-PANEL 1
Pan to all: You know, besides this problem, it's rumoured that NING (ALPHA) is also on Koshy's case...

The attack was made to destroy Evoke by making them lose face. Now he can pin it on Koshy for not finding it out in time and stopping it, saying proper urban resilient precautionary measures had not been put in place by Evoke. Only we know it's not always possible, if the attack comes from an unknown or unexpected quarter.

PANEL C

Koshy:
So what do you suggest?

RADHIKA:

We can only go for crisis management now.
If we can get enough proof of the good work done by these five communities and put it on the air people won't suspect them. Meanwhile we can track the real culprits. Michele will organize a concert with Patricio to lift up the spirits of the city while we also help the families of the stricken in whatever way we can

Koshy:
Sounds like you’ve got your work cut out for you, Radhika. Good luck.

PANEL D

The helicopter piloted by PAN in the previous frame touches down near RADHIKA. It has the EVOKE logo on it.
PAGE 6

PANEL A

BANGALORE. KOSHY'S OFFICE.
A big-screen TV is flashing “INCOMING CALL.”

SAMIRAN

It’s for you, man. It’s him.

KOSHY
Ah, thank God. They've reached.

PANEL B

Koshy appears on the screen. That is, Alchemy’s Indian digital avatar - a Kathakali mask - appears.

ALCHEMY 1
Bangalore, this is Alchemy.

PANEL C

Michele takes pictures of MG Road.

(in a text box with quotes)
Officially, they don’t exist.

PANEL E

SARAH works on a sniffer 3D tracker on her computer. She is aslo at MG ROAD.S hakes her head in disbelief, looking at the wreckage..

(text box, quote)

(Can't wait to find the guys who actually did it.)
PANEL F

RADHIKA to Koshy's art and design students.

(text box, quote)
You’ll quietly facilitate help to the families. We’ll provide the imagination.

PAGE 7

PANEL A

Michele interviewing a grocer with a nearly empty store.

(text box, quote)
Michele emerges and tells Sarah:

Affirmative.

It's Ning who's behind this operation,

PANEL B

Sarah making notes at PALACE GROUNDS, talking to the CM. Before the music show .

We don't want the profits. You take all the credit and the money and use it for the families, the metro and the volunteers who helped us in the city, ok. And make sure the money reaches or we'll be back. Also: make sure the press stops blaming the innocent.

CM looks at Sarah's pistol and smiles vapidly, nods, then falls silent.

PANEL C

Radhika looking at school girls on a street near MEKHRI CIRCLE.

( in a text box with quotes)
Radhika on the phone to Koshy:

By the time we leave, we should leave behind security and peace. Sarah will train the girls to be traceuses and in counter intelligence tactics and also in systems surveillance and MAK can do her no hate know love peace thingy for schools. So next time, you won’t have to send us an EVOKE, KOSHY.

Koshy: There will be no next time

PANEL E (text box)

Sarah: So when does ALPHA arrive again?

Pan: He's coming.

PANEL F

"A view from even higher up (Pan's and Sarah's view), we start to see the shape of the Bangalore landmass. Ning's plane is landing."

PANEL G 1 (text box. Koshy speaking, to Pan and Sarah.)
We've no time to waste.

PANEL H

"We’re at orbital altitude, looking down on the earth and Bangalore. A small satellite (an inhabitable cube-sat) is foregrounded above Bangalore. On it, we see the logo of the EVOKE network."

OFF-PANEL 1
Sara, to Koshy, from inside the small cube-sat: Leave it to me. I'll be there. I'll take care of it.

INCOMING CALL : THE PEOPLE ARE RIOTING! :(

Koshy: Sighs. Remembers Martin Luther King.

"I have to try this now."

To halt the crowd he sends his autistic "children" out on to the streets with tags and trackers to meet them.

IT works. Seeing them in such large numbers the people calm down, stop rioting, start helping them to find their homes etc. It's an amazing sight.

SARAH deletes Alpha (a.k.a Ning) with her bow outside the Airport.

Radhika, Ternura, Elastika, MoE and Sunny Dupree help the families come back to normal.

The money for the concert by Michele and Patricio goes to rebuilding Bangalore, especially the Metro.

Rahul and TJ Roshan come over to hand it over to the CM. Paras Doshi is nowhere to be seen. He may be in the crowd. Pradip Dey barely makes it, though.

Pan helps Electronic City come back to normalcy again, after a week's loss of speed, with crypto-anarchy.

KOSHY: Job is done, mates,

THE SOUND OF HEAVY METAL THUNDER ROCKS BANGALORE.

Last Frame: PAN (dressed as Beren) & SARAH (dressed as Luthien) embracing. It is sunset.

DELTA , EVOKE4VER & UEVOKE SURVIVE TO TELL THE STORY AND FACE THE NEXT DAY(SEASON) AGAIN.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
