Ah the primacy of the 20's at my peak. Celebrating my 27th birthday. Living in suburban Brisbane, Australia, which has undergone a massive shift. Luckily, practices common in outback Australia for water and energy preservation have been successfully transported to the city. Every house now has a water tank to catch rainwater. These are used to power mini-hydro generators, which work with the solar panels that work so well in the sunny climes of Northern Australia. Power is stored in a battery when in excess, allowing energy produced during the day to work at night. Of course, sometimes there is not enough power, and that is when power is drawn from the mains. This power is mainly generated through hydro-power, exploiting the waves that appear up and down Australia's coast.
Most of the guests haven't arrived in cars. Many have taken the public transport system, improved and expanded over the years, now running mostly with electric buses. Cars are bad for the environment, and lets face it, petrols just so expensive. Even electric cars are still expensive here, but public transport was seen as the new green way to travel, and has proven so!
No party hats at the party, or disposable plates. Its discouraged to waste paper so frivolously. There's cake, but it is more expensive than normal, the chickens that produce the eggs have become rarer as eating meat has become more unsustainable and expensive. Still, food is all quite good, hope my friends enjoy a Vegetarian birthday meal!
