A crash course in changing the world.
I think the idea of a community currency is a really interesting idea and probably the idea I would side with if I had to choose. I think a community currency would be a great way to stimulate a local economy amongst its citizens. If communities in underdeveloped areas were struggling financially, a currency specific to that area (town, city, village or county) might be able to help provide better financial security for its citizens. The citizens could use the area specific currency to pay for anything within their community- food, clothing, textiles, services, etc. The only down side to this is that if members of the community became to dependant on the local currency then they may not be able to survive outside of their area. If not financially stable in the nation but financially stable in their town, they would be confined to that area. There are obviously pros and cons to this idea so maybe community currencies should only be used in moderation to help citizens/communities stay afloat until they could regain stability.
