A crash course in changing the world.
Dams are one of the best options to preserver precious winter rain for long hot summer days in some countries. Or, dams are built to store water for a 'rainy' day, but one of the projects I worked on, was the K.Talal Dam, build to store water. The Zarqa river poured into the dam, passing through working camps and acc**ulating biological contaminants, and from the plants, the river collected industrial pollutants, such as nitrates and phosphates. This created a very rich environment for bacteria and micro-organisms, which acc**ulated, decayed, surfaced and caused toxic cyano-bacteria, and anaerobic conditions underneath, eventually casing water stratification and emissions of the poisonous H2S gas. Fortunately, these studies led to the control over river pollutants, but ultimately the heavy winter water fall helped elevate the levels of water and dilute the problem.
