I chose journalist Dan Ilett who blogs on Greenbang.com because I think that going green is an important aspect to just about any problem. Sustainability is important when trying to fix something; we want a solution that will last longer than the problem. To find a solution we need to understand the problem and why it is happening. Greenbang covers stories that look at not just how to go green, but why it is necessary and why we're not at the moment. One of his stories, "Eco cheese wins contest" talks about a green method of production. "They produce their own electricity by pumping anything left over after making the cheese into an anaerobic digester which breaks the waste down and produces bio-gas. This bio-gas is used to run a generator which produces the electricity for the farm. It’s only one of 4 such systems in Ireland at the moment." If we could take that idea and incorporate it into mainstream production of other products, the cost of the food could go down, making it more accesible to the people who need it. I bookmarked his blog and intend to read it very often.
