Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Before I begin, I would like to say that I hope the evoke network ceases production of these silly and tedious cartoons.

Episode I

EPISODE 1
BOTSWANA
"A flea could bite the bottom of the pope in Rome" - From the musical 'les Miserables'

PAGE 1

PANEL A

The Sunrise over african wheat fields. A farmer begins his day looking out at his wheat farm through the window, whilst sitting on the edge of his bed. He sits while a think bubble contains the words, the crops are dying, we just cannot seem to get rid of these pests. In the newspaper is a headline that reads "Hungarian Maize Aphid destroys crops of the country".

OFF-PANEL 2
You’re certain they exist?

PANEL B

A sunrise panorama of Gabarone is spread before the silhouette of the President of the country. His tired eyes indicate that he hasn't slept the night before, but instead has been up all night in the office.

President 1
Because we need real help, not fairy tales. Even with the pest control, our crops are still being decimated, this is getting expensive.

OFF-PANEL 2
Mr. President, It’s not just us. All of Africa has been hit by the same crisis.

President 3
I cannot let this happen. I will not. Not in my country

PANEL C
A shot from behind the president focuses on a large television screen, which displays the news reporter and a headline saying "imminent food shortage".

ASSISTANT 1
It’s said the network was responsible for saving Tokyo's famine last year, but they prefer to keep themselves hidden it seems....very mysterious.

President 2
So, if they’re real, who do we call?

ASSISTANT 3
You have to EVOKE them, sir.

PANEL D

Close up on the Assistant.

ASSISTANT
You have to add the last piece, because I guarantee they already know about our struggle, and they are watching all that goes on here. You need only make a clearly visible plea for help, visible to any onlookers, accepting the fact that you need someone with a solution.

PANEL E

Close up on the Governor.

President
Show me....

Ok, that was the first page to make a nice introduction... but here's the synopsis: The evoke network gets called in, they explain that the Hungarian maize aphid is only so strongly present because of high levels of nitrogen (or something) in the atmosphere, and that by increasing the amount of oxygen directly around the plants, the maize aphids struggle to reproduce. Thus, high oxygen yield plants are planted within the rows of maize, and these plants are resistant to the effect of the aphids (being genetically modified). The aphids die, the plants thrive, and in the process people are taught how to plant for the future, and that a mixture of plants can promote a healthy eco-system and potentially prevent threats to food. However, in the mean time... "Y-network?" (an organisation funded by multinationals who make profit out of general disaster) attempt to find out more about the evoke agents to try to get to alchemy and end the evoke network once and for all (and take all the profit).

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
