A crash course in changing the world.

Through the blessing of the City of Steamboat Springs I will get several acres of unused land to create a Community Farm. The farm will be run on a volunteer only basis. School cla**** will have field trips to help and learn about food security. Throughout the season volunteers will have access to any fresh produce and herbs. At the end of the season will be a harvest and a community meal cooked from what was taken from the farm. The entire community will be invited to taste and to realize that they can grow their own food as well. It will be similar to a botanical garden in the way that people will come by just to stroll through and check on the plants. I believe this would be a fun project to participate in and could be monumentally successful.

Good work, getting several acres for a community farm project. Sounds like a real-life Stone Soup adventure, with the community meal at harvest time. How will you find your community farming-volunteers--are there many already, or will you publicize your efforts, or go to local schools and seek students interested in sustainable agriculture, with civic service time to "donate"? Happy gardening!

Fourth of July on the Lake
This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
