The library was begun by Francesca Bonnemaison along with women members of St. Anna's parish. The library aimed at providing a service to young women, and soon incorperated a school for women. Women received education on cooking and fashion, as well as training designed to help them get better jobs. Bonnemaison is a public library and has a large collection of fashion magazines dating back to 1860. The library was founded in 1909, and is the first women's library in Europe - and possible the world. Languages: Spanish, English, French.
