Food security...Actually this word is a long world for Hunger. Everyone
knows what Hunger is, but the word is too common for an issue like
this. Food Security is more correct for the fact Hunger is fixed within
a few minutes but Food Security it takes more time. Food Security is
more of a huge issue. It when people lack the access to food to every
single day and to maintain a healthy life.
I found this map at:
http://www.fao.org/economic/ess/food-security-statistics/fao-hunger....
The
map shown here is a map about hunger around the world. The continent
with the most percent of hunger problems has to be Africa. The percents
get worse and worse as you go deeper into Africa. Right in the middle
has to be the highest percent of hunger problems in all of the
continents. Poor Africa. I'm
surprise to see that North America has less then 5 percent. I thought
it would be more or something. I really did not except that.
"Yet
today, in 2010, the effects of climate change are exacerbating an
already vulnerable food supply in Africa, leaving farmers less capable
of providing for themselves, let alone their communities. "
This quote is from an article I found at : http://english.aljazeera.net/focus/2010/02/201029113234906173.html . There
has to be a reason why the climate changing is occurring in Africa. It
probably all has to do with global warming. I think maybe that we
humans are the ones who caused the decrease in food security. God
doesn't that suck..."Because
of the bad economy, New York families that typically donate food, warm
clothes and other basics to those in need just can't afford to this
year," Gillibrand said. "As a result, food bank shelves have gone bare,
and hunger and food insecurity have reached disturbing,
historic highs."" This quote is from an article I found at:
http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/queens/2009/12/09/2009-12-09_hu...
. After the map that I saw with the percentage of the lack of food
security in the Americas, I really don't think my region is lacking in
that at the moment. This article is about Queens and that Queens is
facing food security. So my thought about the America not lacking food
security is wrong...this article tells me otherwise.
I have to
say though, I never really see food security around me. Maybe I'm just
blind to the world around me. I would have to say though, I feel bad
for hobos since food security is something they lack. Maybe I should
help do something about it....
After reading that article. It
enlightened me on how there is food security in my neighborhood. I
never really knew thought there was a decrease in food security. At
least I know now that there is something of that effect in my
neighborhood.
