Imagine a world where children create and implement ideas that can have life changing results. I am not talking of teens nearing adulthood....I am talking about 6-7 year olds, maybe even younger.

Kiran Bir Sethi is one inspirational woman. her entire message is summarized into the words
"I CAN"
She started a school in India where through teaching kids with a hands on approach, she has empowered them to make change in their lives. After seeing her success with just 200 kids at her school, she decided to up the ante and teach the same message to an entire city in India, resulting in 30,000 people hearing her message and bringing about change. her efforts have not stopped there. With the help of her students, they designed a tool kit to effect change across all of India with her latest achievement, with kids stopping child marriages, teaching their parents to read and much more. The video tell the basics.
Upon further research, Kiran Bir Sethi is being asked to speak all over the globe, helping to inspire an entire generation of children to effect change in their communities. She was elected in 2008 as an Ashoka Fellow, a great honor and testament to the wonderful work she is doing. ( http://www.ashoka.org/kbirsethi )

"Kiran has developed an innovative educational environment at Riverside School that focuses on “nurturing a spirit of curiosity
and…opportunities for exploration in a safe space within the spirit of

social intervention initiatives in the city, community quality-of-life
and after-school programs to provide a wide array of activities

Fantastic stuff - a very inspirational woman who's doing amazing things. Us grown ups are too often stuck in our ways - institutionalized in our ways of helplessness. Getting in there early and teaching children they can be the difference is so important.

Thanks :-) I was so inspired by her video that I sent it off to my son's school principal, his teacher and last years teacher. I think her vision could really help not only they educational system, but also get all of our kids involved in finding solutions and realizing that they can make a difference.

Fourth of July on the Lake
This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
