Hockerton Housing Project
In Nottingham the Hockerton Housing Project has been in use for many years to create a self-sustaining,renewable community – presently with five houses of residents and their families working at the facilities. The HHP is not just a living space, but also a renewable community where everyone works together to help develop building plans for technologies and sustainable living in other parts of the country.
The project was completed in 1998 after eighteen months of construction, built using a mixture of dependence on the surrounding landscape and sustainable materials:

The project was completed in 1998 after eighteen months of construction, built using a mixture of dependence on the surrounding landscape and sustainable materials:
- A home is covered with the natural earth in the area making it partially built underground, and incorporates a passive heating system.
- Each one has two wind turbines and a photovoltaic (solar) system to power all of their electricity requirements.
- The water system is self-contained, as is a sewage system that helps recycle all waste material created for usage in other areas. There is also a reed bed area for waste that cannot be recycled.
- The structure of a house is a single storey with the earth sheltering the Northern-side. They are six metres deep each with a 19m conservatory to the South and high French Windows.

The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
