This is turning out harder than I thought. Although at the moment I'm on the verge of graduating ('on the verge' meaning in the next two years) my life after that is a complete mystery. But a best-case scenario was requested so a best-case scenario will be delivered.
I have been able to pursue my interests in development cooperation, project management and policy formulation. The experience I've gathered since entering worklife has only fueled my drive for change. It hasn't always been easy to work in a field that challenges ones ideals on a constant basis but it has always been interesting.
One of the greatest attributes I possess is a never-ending optimism. Hardships, that will have happened, have not turned me into a cynic. They have added a touch of realism into my dealings with high-level stakeholders in different forums but only to the effect that I know how to get my way more efficiently. When a new project appears I still get that same feeling I had when embarking on my first endeavour way back when.
What I'm most proud of is my achievements in incorporating the concepts of ecological debt and environmental costs into the evolving North-South relations. The tide of influences and trends has shifted from North-South to South-South and even South-North. The simplistic views on the handicapped South have disappeared due to the global realization of the ongoing exploitation of natural and human resources. The debt had been building for centuries and the time for pay-back has come.
Still. a lot of work remains. Attitudes and preconceptions have had time to cement. More importantly the necessary changes in lifestyles of the North are have been hard to come by. Alternatives are out there and they are within us, and it will be the responsibility of the global movement of evokers to bring about that change.
