A crash course in changing the world.
After a brief weekend with my sponsor family in Charleston, I took the time to sit down and asked my parents what they knew in relation to our city's adaptive capacity. As it turns out, my sponsor family knew a great deal about the adaptability of our cities strategies in terms of tackling natural disasters and other crisis that may effect Charleston. My sponsor father is actually apart of a rapid response force with his federal agency. The group is activated during any crisis that may take place in the city or state. So as you could imagine, he was very knowledgable in the adaptive strategy that the city has in place. When I brought what I knew about Ushahidi, he actually gave me some feedback on the program and how it has come of use in our communities across the United States. Needless to say, I could not out-do him in my knowledge of this program.
