Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

For me, an organisation called „TAFEL“ (I’m sorry, the Link is only offered in German) is the most important organisation for food security in Germany.

The TAFEL collects excrescent, but high quality aliment and disperses it to people who need some benefit.

Here you can see all „TAFELN“ 25 km around my home – there are nine possibilities where poor people can get aliment.

Around 30 years ago the first „TAFEL“ was established in the USA, 19 years ago, the first one in Germany. Originally the organisation was established to support homeless persons, but today most of the supported people are low-income earner and jobless people.

The „TAFELN“ accomplish a balance between the abundance of food in our supermarkets, hotels and marketing events on the one hand and the food austerity caused by low incomes on the other hand. This has a lot of pros: the companies can show social responsibility, poor people can get cheep food and there is also a cutback of garbage which means a release for nature.

Some facts of the German “TAFEL”:

- over 860 “TAFELN” with more than 2000 TAFEL – shops
- over 50000 voluntary hands
- about 1 million supported people, therefrom 24% children

Another nice idea of the last years: for further support the discounter group LIDL does not only give food to the “TAFEL”. LIDL has arranged all their automats to bring back empty PET bottles with donation buttons. So you can decide if you want to get payed your deposit or if you want to give it to “TAVEL”

That’s my personal way to support: I give my deposit to TAFEL. Perhaps a lot of people will say that you must be active! But I think that it is much better to give your deposit, than only to say: the next week I really will be a voluntary… or perhaps the next month, but really in 2012….

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
