Try living for a week on $2 a day.
$2 a day for a month is $60. This ends up being about
$780 dollars a year. When on a limited income people go one of two ways
the credit route, typical Americans, or the BUDGET route.
I chose this innovative idea for multiple reasons. We don't realize how much money we waste. I had to live off $20 a month during a year of my life. I had to learn quickly how to make that money last. I came up with a few ideas that helped me make it through that time of my life. I think once you learn to live like you are poor you appreciate things you buy and the money one makes.
There are easy things we can do to save tons of money a year.
1) CREATE A BUDGET . . . know where your money is going.
2) Cut out the waist.
Cable is a waste of money. Any more TV shows are on line, watch them there it is free.
Smoking/Alcohol/Tobacco are wastes of money.
There are a bunch more, but I would have to talk about this all day.
3) Cook at home. For two weeks my wife and I spend $175 on food. Going out to eat it could easily cost $20 a meal. If you do go out to eat split the meal. That makes a $8 meal $4 per person.
4) Plan you meals reuse the materials you are buying. For example, if you purchase bulk chicken eat a bunch of chicken that week.
5) Don't use credit!!!!! if you can't pay cash don't buy it.
Once you are forced to live on a limited budget one starts to see opportunities that one might have been blinded to previously. You also start to use the things you have better. You begin to appreciate the things you want over the things you need. Finally once money starts coming in you make better decisions on how it is spent. By understanding how money you spend money if some financial set back does occur you will be ready for it.
