A crash course in changing the world.
I have been discussing with a colleague of mine about alternative energy. I remembered back in high school that photosynthesis produces huge amounts of energy. Then I thought that the concept is already similar with solar energy since it harnesses the power of the sun. This led to me looking for 'solar trees' and lo and behold there are already some like that.
But ultimately, the problem with solar power is that it is fragile. Especially in a country like the Philippines where we usually get typhoons, solar panels won't last that long. So I researched a bit further and found out about an innovation in Standford wherein they harness energy from algae photosynthesis! What's good about algae is that they practically grow anywhere at a very fast rate. What they do is sort of gather the energy at the cellular level using a gold electrode. An example application of this is an algae-powered lamp though both researches are still in its early stages.
Now that's GREEN ENERGY!
