A crash course in changing the world.
Before the industrial revolution in 1940's and before people had access to technological building materials as in steel and concrete, they used to build from local quarries/ wood or other depending on their resources and climate. they used to understand simple natural phenomenon as in the prevailing wind direction and sun orientation. you may tell me that you don't need to be an architect/engineer to note these simple observations, but unfortunately I see alot of built projects that has no regard to these basic phenomenon which requires the inhabitants to waste alot of power and energy on lighting, heating/ cooling..
Ofcourse after a decades of commercial buildings emergence, we realized that industrialization has seduced us into turning our backs from Indigeneous Knowledge of building construction..
Analyzing old regional houses in the north of lebanon made me learn alot from our heritage and looking forward to utilize technology to evolve old technologies!
