Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

LONDON - ZONE 27- 23-MAR-2020

We’re out in the woods tonight, eyes bright and hearts racing. It’s not much of a wood, just a bunch of trees by our residence, choked with abandonned cars and other clutter. It’s perfect for our needs. The music is loud and there’s already a crowd gathered, locals for the most part, but some I don’t recognise. The more the merrier, I say. We find a space on one of the cars and climb on up, feeling the thump of bass through the cold metal. Down on the dance floor, a frantic knot of Techies are making some final adjustments; there are cables everywhere. One of them heads our way and she grins, giving us a thumbs up before disappearing under the front of the car. Lights come on, first our car then a string of others. There’s a whoop from the crowd and the dance floor starts to fill.

We take our turn hauling batteries. The big community ones come first and once they’re re-charged we start in on the others in a strict order of need. The music is very loud close to the dancing, but the movement of all those bodies is doing the trick. The cars are no use for driving, who can afford the fuel these days? but they’re perfect for recharging these big old batteries – you just need to rig your dance floor right, then hook em up. You need a good beat too of course, and lots of willing dancers, but that really isn’t a problem round here.

A new moon is due tomorrow and the night is getting chilly, but we dance on, fuelled by a sense of purpose and a glow of community spirit. Tomorrow we’ll be back to facing the hardships of our new reality, but tonight belongs to the dance.

Interesting combination of concepts. Now I really wonder whether it is possible to use up movement energy by some simpler system than piezo that are in use today.

I obviously used some creative licence with this (it is supposed to be 10 years from now) - but it was inspired by a post that I remember seeing somewhere here on EVOKE where paving slabs were being used for power generation (I'll post a link later if I can find it again). :)

Further to my previous comment, the post that inspired me was this one from kenneth declercq.

LOL! I can really see this happening too! I love the dancefloor energy idea. Make more out of something people do already and it'll not be hard to persuade them to do it.

Good idea - similar to the energy making gyms in Hong Kong. I think containing the energy that is naturally occuring and generated by people having fun in leisure activites is definately a great way forward. +1 creativity :o)

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
