[Masani] I come from a typical Uganda family. My mother was diagnosed
with HIV/AIDS when I was just 9 years old. I am now 19 years old.
Because of the help I got from "Training the trainers," I was able to
help her get treated at the only hospital for miles. Volunteers in the
organization helped provide transportation fees for me to bring my
mother to the hospital and gave me food while I was waiting for her
treatment to be over. We visited the hospital about 3 times a week and
every trip took a long time. We left early in the morning and returned
late in the evening. I have 2 younger siblings at home as well. When
I'm gone with Momma, I leave my little brother in charge of taking care
of our baby sister.
