Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Okay so I had this thought. The winds that travel in between skyscrapers in big cities much reach colossal speeds, these winds could be used to generate energy. So why not install wind turbines in big cities? Here's a small render I made:

Simple enough? Well here are some problems:

Noise; from what I've heard wind turbines can be quite noisy, something that big cities usually have enough of.

Accidents; Wind turbines a prone to break when the winds get to high. Turbines can break and scatter parts. This would of course be extremely dangerous in big cities if people live or travel near them.

But if they were installed in places where people don't travel, like in secluded alleys, with some kind of protection around them, it might be safe.

Thoughts?

Random afterthought: 3 dimensional wind turbines? Hang them on an axis and the could turn with the wind, like a flag hanging on a flagpole. => More efficient turbines?

In Slovenia, where I'm from, environmentalist are against building wind turbines in the country side, because they say that birds can fly into them and get killed.
So I think putting wind turbines in the city where (due to pollution and noise) is not so many birds can be a solution.

Very creative! I've got a post about how SA is simply moving towards more renewable energy with the use of wind power. The post (http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/wind-power-cape-towns) focuses on the Darlington Wind Farm near Cape Town. Might be worth taking a look at :). All in all though, a great idea with nice rendering!

(+1) for Courage. It is always more difficult to be an innovator than to follow best practices (I read that on someone else's blog). I like this idea - there are already walkways spanning buildings in many cities, so this is a more practical application of that type of spanner. Could you have this turbine attached to a walkway somehow, so that there could be multipurpose? Alleviate some pedestrian traffic at the same time?
Great effort. Really.

Great use of wasted space.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
