A crash course in changing the world.
In a previous post I talked about how a local architect designed a house running on clean, renewable energy. To use this same example for this mission would seem unfair to me, as it would be double-dipping. Talking about Van Jones would also be a bit superficial. Instead, I'll talk about someone whom would not come to mind when talking about Power Shifts into renewable, sustainable energy: Bill Gates. One of the wealthiest and most influential men in the world, Bill Gates is famous for making Micro$oft, the company that has a near monopoly over computer operating systems software, and infamous for being the first "pirate of scillicone valley". In his latter years, Bill Gates has taken to invest his money on working on finding a way to harvest energy from waste. He is trying to use the nuclear waste left over from the millions of warheads dismantled every year to create energy. It should be noted that using nuclear WASTE is not the same as using nuclear ENERGY. Nuclear material creates waste (whether you use it for energy or bombs or whatever), and it is this waste that Gates attempts to harvest. If he succeeds, the world will have an incredible ammount of energy at its disposal while working on cleaning some of its deadliest waste. I think this is an exciting technology and one everyone should keep an eye on.
