A crash course in changing the world.
It was heartwarmign to see - after a search for "food security seatthe" , under the Community Food Security Coalition's list, a program that I knew about and have had friends take part in, but didn't connect to the challenge of this week's Evoke.
The program is Seattle's

And their fact sheet is here: http://www.cityofseattle.net/neighborhoods/ppatch/doc**ents/FactShe...
The program allows un-used community spaces to be used for individuals' gardens or youth gardens or market gardens or food for community organizations. It made me think about the berm in front of my house that technically I'm supposed to take care of and has a bit of tired grass on it. What if that were tomatoes?
The other thing P-patches do is stretch your imagination on where else could grow food? have a "green roof" or a container garden on the deck? What if car roofs had container gardens on them. Victory gardens have one meaning - this would be a different kind of victory!
