In my opinion, the most important and significant posting about social innovation is the secret that reads Provide skills, not just finished technologies.
This statement stood out to me because it implies that rather than solving problems, educate people and equip them with the skills to solve those problems. Although within one instance, the problem is quickly solved - the individuals do not get the full benefit of understanding the solution. By working with people progressively towards the final solution, both parties benefit and the people being helped slowly become more and more self sufficient. There is also room for further innovation when individuals know the basics of solving a particular problem.
Much like the old proverb says:
“Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime.”
