My favorite holiday is July 4th, American Independence Day. I served in the military and truly enjoy my country. In 2020 I play on spending my July forth like this:
I wake up in the morning to head to the local farmer's market. My wife and I grab the dogs and through them into our completely recharged electric car. Because we don't spend the money for gas we drive a little farther than the mass market food store to buy locally grown foods. We get our bundle from our community supported agricultural (CSA) people grab some fresh meats and head back to the house.
Back at the house I notice as I walk past my electric meter that it is running backward. It makes me smile a bit and I head inside to start prepping for the day. Before friends and family head over the family and I need to fix up the yard. So we bust out our manually and electric powered tolls and mow, sweep, edge and trim until the back and front yard are decent for the family to come over.
We start cooking the food using charcoal made from recycled materials such as scrap woods and stuff. (Nothing beats real wood coals) Dinner goes great then the fireworks begin.
The day ends and I didn't spend any needless money on external expenditures. In fact depending on how sunny it will be that day I might just make some :-)
