A crash course in changing the world.
The Kenyan government had introduced an ingenious way in 2008 to fight youth
unemployment through the Kazi Kwa Vijana(KKV) program- this is a
Swahili word for jobs for the youth-which aimed at providing jobs for
300,000 unemployed youth. This model has not being sustainable mainly
due to corruption among the implementers and in sufficient funding both from donors and government.
The KKV model is build upon major infrastructure development they include: road maintenance, water harvesting, small-scale water
supply and sanitation, and
waste/garbage collection. Sustainability of the project through
adequate financing will ensure greater ownership and participation of
youths.
Currently the project has hit a snag over different issues that arose, hopefully it will get back on track(which I know it will)as we head towards the campaing period.
