OK, Ladies and Gents, my Objective is to write about local problems in food supply. I am based in a friendly Mid-German town with about 70,000 inhabitants. Food supply is great, if I want anything, I buy it. So it's all a matter of price, and that's where the fun comes in.
The individual budget on food supply decides its quality. At the upper end of the scale we have those guys who do carbon-reduced diets, eat steaks, vitamin pills and can afford a healthy living.
On the bottom end, with a very low budget, you have to rely on white-bread, canned meals, and so on. In my street there's an organization that collects all the unsold stuff from groceries and gives it away to the local poor. Once there, you have to take what you get, unable to manage long term effects on unbalanced eating.
However, you're fed at least.
Now if there one day some crisis to this supply system might occur it's obvious who suffers most. Even if things continue the way they are some people might get cut off of getting fresh meat, fruits and vegetables. Those things are essential to balanced eating, but they're correlated to a market price.
There's nothing set up by my government so far that guarantees either a fixed price or availability for certain key-food-supplies. All you get is money to guarantee a minimum outcome. Now if something severe happens to supply - or the monetary system - many are doomed.
That's a harsh fact.
