To me, this is the most important secret: to put yourself in the shoes of the people that have the problem. Almost literally. There is no way you can solve a problem without understanding it from an insider point of view. Anyone can say, "Why don't you just ______?" You don't have to do anything to suggest a solution. The person with the problem could very well have attempted it, and if the problem is not yet solved, it probably didn't work. It's simply ignorant and even self-superior to believe that a problem that people have been suffering with for lifetimes can be solved in a couple of seconds of your problem-solving skills. The fact that the problem exists means it isn't one that can easily be solved. The problem almost undoubtedly has a variety of aspects that need to be addressed, aspects that can't be understood from an outside perspective. Every nuance, all the in and outs of a problem must be understood before a solution can even be attempted.
