As a gamer myself, I have experienced the power of MMORPGs - evidenced by an entire suite of college students playing from sunrise to sundown with only the slightest time spent on eating. Games like WoW are straight up addicting. Yet, until watching Jane McGonigal's TED presentation, I had never once considered the possibility of these games being beneficial. Hell, I almost always regret spending the time that I felt I had wasted on a game.
To propose that gamers can be harnessed for their ability to addictively, almost maniacally pursue the solution to a problem (albeit for the purpose of improving up their own alter-ego) is crazy, and undeniably awesome. This is an idea that can literally change the world, and Jane is one of my heroes for recognizing it and pursuing it.
She's also quite pretty. <3
