Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Following on Toronto's climate resiliency plan, I have had the pleasure of implementing, applying, and improving upon the plan in my local district.

We have a food garden that spans groundwork and condo rooftops. Tourists love it. The nearby mall even has a self-sustaining green roof with augments its air-conditioning costs.

And we count on it's air conditioning: Toronto's extreme heat warnings are notorious. Those without air conditioning, especially the elderly and/or sufferers of respiratory conditions in the area are encouraged to loiter on extremely hot days.

The nearby 401 highway is an important artery for Toronto. A tow-truck (and plow in the winter) are stationed at two major exits - one beside one of Toronto's biggest hospitals.

Those are the highlights. All the details are on the map of

How cool, I love the idea of rooftop gardens. Nothing like this exists in my area that I'm aware of, although just last year witnessed the opening of several community gardens on previously empty lots.

That's cool. My dr. zuess dream is a District Garden: ample park and greenspace in the area, but where buildings appear to interrupt the green procession, the green actually carries on continuesly over the rooftops. I'd pay to see that.

That's be great. When I was trying to help "turn my city into the type of place I'd go for vacation," my great dream--which of course was never taken seriously, was to dig up the express way which circles the city and make it a huge park. Green space filled with trees and plants is wonderful. Trees (and working to renew the soils) could help us resolve so many of our environmental problems; seed water, pull up ground water, purify the air, etc.

Digging up an expressway and making it greenspace, keeping the same shape would be momentous and inspiring image.

Ye, the arborist profession should be visible, vocal and attract lots of students. Instead, the word 'arborist' gets a red underline in this very post. =\

They did just that in Boston, when they took down the elevated limited-access highway and made it into the Rose Kennedy Greenway, but it's mostly just monoculture mowed grass, and, of course they were able to do it because of the far more offensive, expensive, and insanely environmentally destructive big dig crap, so it's probably a net loss than anything. (They could have saved a lot of energy, and made Boston really cool, by leaving the elevated structure and turning it into community gardens!)

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
