This proverb was given by Alchemy the other day...The Nigerian proverb, "The earth moves at different speeds depending on who you are."
No one person experiences an event, situation, environment in the same way. The way we perceive the world around us in constantly changing as our opinions and view on the world evolve. Outside of each personal view, the earth moves at different speeds for each culture. The culture in Darfur is different in many ways from that of "typical" Americans. Many people in Sudan aren't focusing on popularity or gaining unnecessary materials but instead its a matter of surviving day to day. Having to walk up to 9 miles a day just to find firewood is unheard of in the US but others its a way of life. Their daily life revolves around staying alive, their earth is moving at the speed of their culture.
Everybody has their own visions and expectations of what the world is and should be. The fact that the world will never be perfect and move at the same speed for each person is what keeps us alive.
