Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I am waiting for week 2. I didnt achieve as much as I wanted from week 1. I wanted to get to the top of the leaderboard .(I am #5). Not because I really am an attention-whore, but because I would be interested in how that would change my ARG experience. I wonder if for instance the top on the leader board gets a lot more calls for collaboration than others. I am also interested in how those collaboration ideas could be spread.

I am interested in that also because I am interested in alternative ways to foster collaboration, so that we can have real innovation here.

As Alchemy writes:

Evoke is designed to support new ideas and collaboration,
not to push existing solutions

Let's see what the missions and quest of week 2 are like.

Interesting thoughts :) I've been wondering over the last few days, as volume has increased significantly, just how someone coming in new can hope to be heard and stand out from the noise. Some great posts will help of course, but even a great post from someone new can quickly drop off the visible blog list and you're then relying on tags or serendipity from a wandering influential agent to get you noticed. I think once you're up on the leader board it is much easier to get further posts noticed - so my challenge to everyone, and especially the leaders, is for more of us to work hard on spotting and nurturing new arrivals - they could all too soon loose heart and interest if they are not being seen or heard :)

@Alex: I couldnt agree more! This is a real challenge. Thanks for the reminder.
Btw, what mechanisms can you think of that would make it easier to spot some of those new blog posts etc?

I can't tag their stuff with a tag so others who are in my network and 'trust my tagging' can get the attention flowing that way. I Could re-blog their stuff and give credit. I could post a screenshot of their post with my comments under it - visual representation.

Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I've already suggested to the system admin who re-structured the discussion threads that some improved structure to the blogs and/or blog tags could help - so we'll see if this happens or helps if it does happen. I like your idea of taking a screen shot and commenting - kind of a 'rising star' post - could work very well for a leaderboard high-flyer like yourself as you have a voice that will be heard ;) I'll have a think what else could help.

I think the real problem here is the undercurrent of competition and the allure of a grand prize - be that World Bank Given, or Social Network Kudos. Whenever a 'leaderboard' is in place, there's going to be people trying to climb it. However, you know this...so...solutions...

Perhaps a solution would be that we could be put in teams - rather than finding a friends network and build it from a base level, contacting people - we could choose teams - I got it - Eureka

....we could choose to be in POWER teams...each power has a colour, the teams within that colour could be just tonal differences...like, light blue, electtric blue etc..about 150 people max, they could be labelled as colours so they weren't heirachical...and each team could have a page. Each team could work with any member of any team, and we could earn teamworking points. If people wanted to establish their own teams, then that would be fine as well.

Let me know what you think, and whether we could start something early enough in the game...

Yeah, I hear you Lynn, and I agree. Teams is where it's at. But teams need to be properly implemented in the site interface. Here I wrote about guilds, and the Awake guild (team) has more info here.

But Awake has been idle the last days. Will kickstart it into awareness soon

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
