There's an odd comment in which the narrator contradicts himself, saying that you can't make an animal do something out of fear of the future, when, obviously, that's exactly what the wh*** video is about. :-) Humans regularly use fear of the future to control other animals, including humans. Plus, there are many animals other than humans who can think about the future, though perhaps there are not that many species that are quite as capable of worrying ab out the future as we humans are.

But other than that goof, it's a good point. The idea that humans have created a major industry of human animal husbandry and human factory farming is a good description of what authoritarian, domination-by-aggression rule is like. And we're slowly learning that it's time to change our approach, both on a human society level, and on a food production level (and, hopefully on many other levels as well, especially at the education and family levels!)

Though, I should also mention that many of these kinds of videos are using the same strategy of fear-based manipulation as the people they claim to be opposing. I look forward to more collaboration-by-inspiration approaches from these folks in the future, as the find ways to let go of their fears and embrace their freedom, which, as Victor Frankl helps us understand, primarily comes from within.

I agree, this kind of information tends to promote a fatalistic worldview. However, I feel it is useful to wake people up. As to your first point, I think the narrator said that in the context of the belief that human beings are not animals and you can induce people to do a multitude of tasks through fear.

Yeah. I know the allure of trying to use fear to "wake people up". Clearly, as we've seen from the success of the military-religious-industrial complex, it works. At least temporarily. Which is why people use it as a tactic. Getting away from that tactic isn't going to be easy. But as long as we have the intention to move towards something more positive and collaborative, I think we'll do well.

And isn't it funny that the creators of this material promote a bizarre and untrue belief (about humans not being animals) while talking about bizarre and untrue belief? I'm always amused at how we can be so adamant about being "awake" and "aware" of "truth" while also being so ignorant at the same time. We all like to pretend that we know what's going on, and what's right, while missing so much. I always have to remind myself of Socrates' famous statement about the wisest person being the one who admits that they know nothing. :-)

Turil, why do you think humans are animals?
Comment by Turil Cronburg on May 2, 2010 at 1:17pm
Why do I think humans are animals? Because that's the category humans fit into when you're looking at the kinds of things that exist. What else would we be? Fungi? Plants? Rocks?

Sure, if you want to classify us that way. But I see humans as psychologically and spiritually different from animals. While we can be similar in our base behaviours, we are also capable of higher traits and aspirations that animals are not capable of.

What it sounds like you are saying is that humans are psychologically and spiritually different from OTHER animals. Each species has it's own unique traits and exceptional abilities that sets us apart from other animals, while we all share the same basic structure of being animals. And animals are beings that are (according to Wikipedia):

"...mostly multicellular, eukaryotic organisms of the kingdom Animalia or Metazoa. Their body plan eventually becomes fixed as they develop, although some undergo a process of metamorphosis later on in their life. Most animals are motile, meaning they can move spontaneously and independently. All animals are also heterotrophs, meaning they must ingest other organisms for sustenance."

Saying that humans aren't animals because they are unique is like saying that red light isn't light because it's unique.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
