A crash course in changing the world.
The Community-Based Natural Resource Management Network provided information on previous projects in the Philippines. One of which was the Palawan Tropical Forestry Protection Programme (PTFPP), a plan that aims to help in the conservation of the forests of Palawan.
With the growing tourism industry in the country, the province of Palawan is joining that boom...and is in danger of increased deforastation to make room for development of resorts.
To combat this possible threat, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) plans on implementing zero carbon resorts which "develops and implements sustainable energy through three phases: reduce (conserve energy). replace (use alternative energy). redesign (develop zero carbon cottages)."
