Pure water everywhere

Hello again everyone!

Water! What an interesting subject! In fact, I spent 10 months living in the Pacific (Vanuatu 7 months and Solomon Islands 3 months) and I've faced that problem.

When I arrived in Port-Vila (capital city), it was not a problem because they had appropriate installations, but as soon as I left (after half a day), I did not have access to clean water. As it was my first time in such country, I did not have any purification…

Safe Water

I can't imagine living in a place where water isn't accessible to me at all times. Where my mother and I would have to walk miles and miles to provide for our family. And on top of that, everyone knows that most families that live in poverty are more likely to have large families. So not only would I have to bring water to my family, if I have a large family, which is typical, it would almost never be enough water for everyone. I would always feel like I couldn't do enough to keep them clean,… Continue

World Water Day - 22nd March

Quick Blog...just want to highlight and hope many others also saved some water; 22nd March - WORLD WATER DAY.

As you've seen my blog on WaterAid, something I feel strongly about, want to evoke, need to do more. Maybe as my IMAGINE3 blog, maybe actually can get some the water fostered from the crazy monsoons (rainfalls) in India through a technology retrieval system help solve this problem and send some to Africa one othe driest continents and get it straight into a cleaning source,… Continue

World H2O Day 2010!

Well, the day is almost over in Sweden now...but today was WORLD WATER DAY, so I hope everyone celebrated by not buying bottled water! Actually, I hope that you buy bottled water as little as possible- especially if you're in a country where you don't need it. Canada and Sweden's water is just as clean from the taps. And it's FREE. So don't forget that, and don't take it for granted!…

2020 Farming and Food and problems

I have been looking at the idea of farming and food and food security for 2020. I see some things and I don’t see some. I have not studied farming before. I always thought I would like to learn agriculture science and try to help develop things that would help the world. My ideas range from using things from SCI…

IMAGINE2-My future meal... worms.

Its eighteen thirty and I'm late getting home from work. On the way back from the community film centre's office that I use to edit at, I stop at my small grocery to get some food for the kid's supper: locally grown root vegetables (stored over winter in a 'root house' next door), some fresh rocket lettuce (grown in the rooftop geodesic-dome hot house down the street), some brown rice and of course the meaty protein, meal worms (grown in pallets like bee hives in the grocer's basement).… Continue

Social innovation in Africa, pleasethankyou

My ignorance about innovation in Africa is very apparent to me. I can't stand the concept of talking endlessly about a huge problem- I feel I'm part of that as an uninformed spectator. With that said, I'll ignore the giant scope of the problem and put it in simple terms and suggest prioritizing, planning with specific goals, and accountability. The one consistent thought I have when I think of giving financial support to Africa is that the rampant corruption would render my help useless.… Continue

Water-wise gardening

Most of the time my city has had water restrictions in place that limit the amount of water we use, and what we can use it for. Australia has a lot of resources on how to reduce water consumption because we are the driest inhabited continent in the world, and our lifestyle hasn't always reflected that. I chose this particular skill because I thought it might have some application in Africa.

In terms of a specific strategy to create a water efficient garden,…

Innovation not rhetoric

One of the most pressing problems facing Africa right now is water, or lack of it. It is all around them but not all of it is usable, or available where it is needed most. The answer is hiding in plain sight. we just have to teach them to see it. Using readily available materials canals can be made to bring the water to where it is needed. Metal is available and welding is a skill that many present so shoring up the structures is a task that can be mastered. Think out of the box, and dont fight… Continue

Water please...

Time is of the essence...for everyone involved. In a matter of 15 minutes, I've joined urgentevoke, read the first mission, considered the "ABC's" of rescue as it relates to rural Africa and realized that our first problem is clean water. A quick search online gives me my first idea. We need a welldrillers organization.

Here is an example:

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
