TYFT (Ten Years From Today); Mission 1 Prompt

I believe this is a more narrative touch to what the post should be, but I had a sudden outburst of creativity:

7AM, GMT. My alarm went off 30 minutes ago to beckon me to get up and get ready for work. It's a Tuesday, though, so I'm not expecting much to happen at the lot. I toss back a warm cup of tea - maybe I accidentally splashed a tad on my sport coat, but it isn't noticeable - and woof down some cereal before heading out the door of my apartment building. It's a…

Hijab: why Muslim women wear the veil (burqa)

The recent controversy of the banning of the head scarf has led to much debate. Many people say that by wearing such attire Muslims are looking to maintain an identity that will prevent them from socializing and integrating with other members of society. The following interview of a French Muslim lady shows her opinions on why should wear a burqa.

She has been wearing a burka in public for around 12 years. She is French-born, has five children, and is married to an Algerian. She is a… Continue

[Food Security: Imagine] A corny story (Bad puns ftw)

"Ah... let's see what's on the menu tonight..."
I crack open my fridge and examine the contents
"...Corn sounds good I guess."
I take out a stalk of corn and start to peel it. Luckily, there isn't as much work to be done with the pulling off of the hairs and such because of recent genetic modification to make it more nutrious, more resistant to disease, easier to eat, and more delicious. That's great because corn can be grown in many…

Celebration in 2020

I'll be having a house warming party for the funky little house I've build into a hill somewhere. Maybe I've managed to make the date coincide with international talk like a pirate day (or maybe not opposite day).

The house won't rely on any outside source of energy, instead powered primarily by coating on the entire outside surface. A coating that performs photosynthesis and through induction transports it wirelessly to the consuming devices throughout the house and…

Myself in ten years

This is a description I wrote of the position I want to be in ten years from now, reflected through a perfect day for me. It's the same answer that I gave for my motivation story because getting to this place is the reason I can get up and put effort in through the day.

In ten years I really hope I'll be financially stable, maintaining enough unaccounted-for time to pursue new projects, to travel and be involved with communities in many different areas. I'll be working…

How I got paid for a photograph

As promised here goes the first story.

I like independent publishing and one day as I was surfing around some small press sites in the internet when I saw an offer. They would send people a copy of their newest ebook if one would go out and take a picture to capture the state of the world at that day. So I did that took three little photos and send them in and got paid as stated. I'll upload the one I like most.

The background to this offer was an instance of giving birth.… Continue

How Citizen X will infiltrate us

Now, the EVOKE vs. Citizen X story is slowly unfolding, and it struck me today while talking with an AWAKE friend (off-EVOKE for security reasons):

What if Citizen X is infiltrating us? Or will do it?

"What if Citizen X is trying to divide us?" my friend asked me, and I started thinking about it.

How could Citizen X infiltrate us?
divide us?
pull our attention in certain directions, while ignoring…

Food Riots: After Katrina

The topic seemed appropriate so I wanted to share a personal story out of my life- and out of the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in the Southern US...

Its weird, now- its been over four years and the obvious destruction of Hurriciane Katrina has faded from the streets, signs of new development and life has moved on.

Yet- the levees in New Orleans are not complete (and won't be till 2011- one more hurricane season to go) And the poverty and memories still… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
