"Live but don't live..."

One of my ancestors - a survivor of the Armenian genocide (95th anniversary tomorrow) - while talking in an elderly age to children surrounding him, said "live my children, but don't live like we did", referring to the ordeal that he, and many other, had suffered as a result of the genocide. One day, when I reach to a similar age, I would pass the same message to the people around me. I will tell them to live and appreciate life with all its details, hardships and memorable moments, but do…

My dinner in 2020

It is 2020, I am in my village home dining with my family. Having a big garden next to my home, I cared to prepare my special dinner using my garden's harvest, as crops have been raised without using any sort of chemical agents. This family dinner was enjoyed to a great extent, as food was tasty and prepared by ourselves.

Biggest food security challenge

The biggest food security challenge in my community or country is the inefficient public policies in regard to the agriculture sector, as it receives less than 1% in terms of public budget allocations, in the absence of national strategies in order to maintain the issue of food security, within the wider macroeconomic perspective of rural development. In order to deal with this issue, I am preparing a personal initiative of mine, in order to make some change in the prevailing…

Indigenous Communities and their knowledge

Indigenous knowledge is an asset that should be complemented by further efforts,in order to ameliorate it and bring it to higher levels of excellence. As based on the Moroccan experience (and many others), rural communities have the best knowledge of the characteristics and the features of their…

Social innovator

Social innovator means to act when acting is needed in an objective, scientific and efficient manner, despite overwhelming challenges and difficulties, and despite the fact that you might sometimes already know in advance that your chances of reaching to a productive conclusions might be very dim.

My city in 2020

Yes, it is already 2020, and I see my city calmer and greener. By calmer I mean that there are no more those horrible traffic jams, as a result of an efficient public transportation system, and the newly operating subway system, which has been made possible after a long struggle. Moreover, public roads were constructed in a way to accommodate the increasing number of cars and the traffic laws have been modernized. By greener I mean that more attention has been paid to the environmental… Continue

It is time to act

Based on the problem presented earlier, there are undergoing efforts in order to apply one of the solutions presented, which is concerned with the public transportation system. In other words, given the gravity of the situation and the necessity of immediate action, a concerted action, a campaign is emerging in order to urge the public authorities to undertake strong measures in order to find a solution to the underlying problem. The proposed solution is two-fold: in the short run it tends to… Continue

Pollution in the capital city

One of the major problems that we face in my capital city, Beirut (Lebanon), is the issue of traffic jam and the emanating pollution as a result. Matters are expected to grow even worse in the near future, especially as a result of excessive urbanization and construction, not to mention the two million tourists that are expected to arrive this summer, where the majority of them would pour into the already congested city. An…

Women in the future

I envisage women participating in all public affairs of my country. After having acquired their rights at household and family level, and after making the necessary amendments and introductions of laws and regulations that consolidate gender equality, I see women starting to take over key positions in the community, whether at the private and public sectors. And those women who climbed the ladder of success, have helped the others (women) to upgrade their potential and skills and to strive…

Women empowerment

We, the participants of the Evoke course in Lebanon, have decided to embark with women empowerment campaign, which will start with holding a workshop with the participation of representatives of civil society organizations. The aim of the workshop is to urge the CSOs to assume responsibility in terms of conducting women empowerment efforts, especially in the rural areas, where there is a large concentration of impoverished women. In order to achieve our task, we are going to mobilize local… Continue

A new unconventional bank has just been opened in the "World" square and it is called Capacity Investment Bank (CIB). CIB has been a joint effort of young entrepreneurs and philantropists, and it is intended for local community development. CIB is a pilot project, and when it succeeds in meeting its aspirations, other branches will be opened as well in other towns and places. The unique feature of CIB is that it provides development counsel and guidance to local businesses, in order to upgrade… Continue

I might utlize my credentials and qualifications to provide useful information and instructions to farmers in order to improve their agricultural activities, over a certain period of time. Thus, in exchange of the services provided, I might receive from them their products. Continue

Future use of money

If I have been given the opportunity to make good or alternative use of money that would serve the interests of mankind, I would have devised a monetary system that would not be vulnerable to financial schocks, speculations and be resilient to crises. I would have invented a system that would preserve the interests of people in face of mounting economic hardships and downturns. Furthermore, I would have initiated a framework of monetary and financial ethics that would hinder any sort of…

I would suggest that international campaigns (musical, festivals, lectures…) are held, in different parts of the world, during which the attendants raise their voice in regard to demands for better service in water supply and sanitation, especially in the developing countries, based on…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
