Urgent Evoke Manifesto

Urgent Evoke is a wonderful network that allows people the opportunity to make real change in their communities while learning about ways to make the world a better place. These missions challenge the EVOKE agent to learn about social change and ways in which they can participate. Urgent Evoke works by having agents working on their own to accomplish the goals and doc**enting their progress through blog posts, video logs and pictures.

Anyone can join Urgent Evoke and those wanting to…

Urgent Evoke Challenge

I had such an amazing time working on urgent evoke and helping find ways to make the world a better place. I also really liked the ways in which I could make an impact on the world around me. One of the great challenges that I think the EVOKE Network should tackle next is the agriculture aspect of the world. Agriculture is such an important aspect of human life and one that is important to the survival of the world. I think that Urgent Evoke is such a great opportunity for people to find…

Emergency Call to Action

The next pandemic flu has reached the United States and we have created an emergency call to action for non-medical community. Since the pandemic flu has been found prevalent in children, we decided that an emergency call to action should be targeted towards education. The emergency call to action was sent to teachers so that they can help children learn while stay ing at home with the flu.

The online call to action is a format for teachers to input information pertaining towards…

Crisis Communication

Crisis communication is such a vital part of living in a world where crisis happens everyday. The ways in which we deal with crisis is so important, especially the communication aspect. I'm in the field of Public Relations so I've learned how vital communication during a crisis is for a client. Since I know how to react on a public relations end during a crisis, I found the way that people react interesting.

I enjoyed learning about the reactions of people in a crisis because I…

Fort Pierce Secret

It's the year 2089 and I'm 100 years old- I have so many secrets about my hometown that I want to pass on to my future. I've lived in Florida my entire life and I was born and raised in Fort Pierce. There are so many secrets that I want to hand down to future generations living in Fort Pierce. We have one of the most beautiful cities in the state- right on the east cows. We're nestled between the wonderful atlantic ocean and bordered by citrus groves.

The later is the part that I want…

Sustainable Management in Mount Cameroon

I really enjoyed this mission because I got uncover an indigenous knowledge success story in the Mount Cameroon area. More specifically, this project was to maintain the biodiversity of the region- to create a sustainable management of the area. This project was to conserve the natural resources of the area as well as creating a new drug. In addition to being sustainable, they wanted to use the natural forest resources to create a drug that would cure the ailments of the prostate…

Fort Pierce Power Plant

In the city of Fort Pierce, Florida we have a nuclear plant that's located on the coast of the city. Fort Pierce is such a small city whose inhabitants are located around the downtown area of Fort Pierce. The St. Lucie power plant is located about 5 minutes from the downtown area. With that being said, there is a resilience plan in place in case an accident ever happened at the Power Plant.

In case of an emergency, the workers at the power plant have mapped out zones in which parts of…

Hurricane Season

Hurricane Season is notorious for being a major crisis in the state of Florida and something that every Floridian should be prepared for. Hurricane damage can range anywhere from downed power-lines and floods to destroyed homes and buildings. Since I've grown up in Florida, I'm used to undergoing hurricane season. I remember my first hurricane where my family and I stayed with my grandmother. To prepare for the hurricane my dad boarded the windows with plywood while my mom bought…

Women's Suffrage

An essential part of women's rights is their right to vote. Throughout history women have been oppressed and unable to voice their opinions through voting. Although many women throughout the world can now vote, there are still areas that cannot. That is why in the upcoming decade I believe that more women will be empowered and able to vote.

In the year 2020, the International Women's Suffrage Alliance will have accomplished its goal of helping women be able to vote. There are also no…

Papua Women

The equality between men and women has been a topic widely disputed among many nations. According to a statistic from the 2010 World Bank, only 20 out of 128 economies worldwide have equal rights for women and men. This has created a wide economic gender gap. especially since only 1% of the world's wealth comes from women when they comprise more than 50% of the world's population.

I really like WomenWatch organization because they track the progress and accomplishments of women across…

Local Exchange Trading System

The future of money is such a vital topic for our ever changing world especially since 3 billion people currently live on less than $2 a day. One of the creative solutions that I read about was the Local Exchange Trading System. I really liked how it was a way that will change the world in terms of money. The basis of the LETS is that it's a locally initiated, democratically organized non-profit community enterprise. It provides communities ways to record transactions of members exchanging…

World Water Day

Since social media is a huge part of social interactions among people, I will make sure that the World Water Day event has that aspect. Social media has the means to bring together people all across the world through various platforms. That's why for the 2020 World Water Day we will be having groups from all across the world post photos on Instagram doc**enting how they're bringing water quality to their area. These posts will have the hashtag #2020Water so that everyone can see what water…

Give Water a Hand

"Our vision is a world where all people have access to safe drinking water and sanitation; a world where no one suffers or dies from a water- or sanitation-related disease."

– Water for People Mission Statement

Safe drinking water is such an essential part of the human life and one out of 6 people lack access to clean water. And as a result 5 million people die each year due to water-disease related deaths. It's heartbreaking to realize that something so essential to the human…

Easter Sunday Festivities

In the year 2020, we are celebrating one of my favorite holidays of all time: Easter! I have such fond memories of celebrating Easter when I was growing up. As soon as my brother and I would wake up - we would go Easter egg hunting around the house. But instead of hunting Easter eggs, we would hunt our Easter basket which our parents always filled with our favorite things. Then it was always a big tradition in my family to go to Easter Sunday service at our local church. After the service,…

Solar Charging Phones

Since this challenge is to find a way to power something I use every day, I have decided to focus on my cell phone. I use my phone every day to either make phone calls, reply to text messages, read emails and more. I am constantly on my phone to communicate with my friends and family. I usually am able to keep my phone with enough charge to last the day. At night is when I will charge my phone. However, to be more sustainable, a way in which I could decrease the amount of energy I use to…

Revolution Energy

For this mission, I decided to learn more about an organization that is creating sustainable ways to power our everyday lives. This organization is Revolution Energy, whose mission is to become the leader in providing affordable and meaningful energy solutions for municipalities, non-profits, and businesses seeking sustainability who are unable to finance large investments and/or are dissatisfied with other energy service companies who provide high-cost, low-impact solutions.

I really…

Meal in 2020

This past week has been an eye opening experience to learn about food security and the future of our world. It’s heartbreaking to think about that more than one billion people go hungry every day. That is why I really like the goals of food security, especially the sustainability aspect. I think it is really important to understand where food comes from and how to produce it. When thinking about what my meal in 2020 will look like, I have a couple of ideas.

I hope that by March 10,…

Good Food Revolution

I recently read a book called The Good Food Revolution, which focuses on the concept of food security. Will Allen wrote the book and it follows his actions of trying to provide residents in an urban area with healthy food. One of the main challenges that Allen faces in his book is the concept of food security and the "farm to table" concept. The book is centered in an urban area of Milwaukee, where the residents do not have access to fresh fruit or vegetables. A majority of the places that…

Imagine 1

It is always so hard to imagine what my life will be like, whether it is next week or in 6 years. My plans and dreams are always changing but hopefully some will come true. In the year 2020, I will have graduated with my masters in student affairs. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always helped others through volunteering. That passion translated into my college experience, and I know that I can continue to help others as a student affairs professional. I will be living near a…

Learn 1

Innovation is such an important aspect of our society because there's always the need to continue to improve what we have. I once read a quote that stated innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower. Before taking a leadership course, I hadn't realized what that statement meant. Now I realize how important innovation is for a leader. Innovation is the process of creating something new that didn't exist before, whether an idea or product. If a leader is innovative, then they have…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
