Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I select Patch Adams! ^___^

I actually selected him in August 2008, when I first met him at his Gesundheit! Institute (http://bit.ly/dBEwlP) in West Virginia (USA). I was there attending a 3-week social change class with the School for Designing a Society (www.designingasociety.org) not even knowing I would meet him.

I applied the School because I was looking for a change in my life but I didn’t know exactly what it mean.
And when I met him I suddenly knew it. =)

Patch is my hero because he decided to be happy every single day of his life.
To accomplish this mission you need to ask yourself every day: “Which are my desires today?”, and then act to make them real, and then reflect on the consequences of your actions at the end of the day, and learn from them how to re-formulate your desires the next day.

I’m only happy when other people are happy, so I desire the more people’s happiness.
Where happiness means: health, love, education, play, participation, sharing.

This is what Patch does. =)

I spent with him 5 days that time and I never cried for such a fullness of emotions and ideas as much as in that days. When I was about to leave the community and come back to Italy, to my “normal” life, I felt I couldn’t switch back living and dealing with people the “normal” way. I told Patch this feeling of mine and we started talking about it, and when we finished talking because time ran out, he just told me smiling: “You know this dialogue is not finished...”
And he repeated it while we were departing: “...it’s not finished!”

And he repeated it again, this time shouting because we were far now: “...IT’S NOT FINISHED!”

Well, he was right. =)
I wrote him a letter, because he only reads mail letters, reporting my progresses in making people happier since that day. And he wrote me back, because he answers to every letter he receives. And so I started writing him every week reporting my progresses.
Almost two years have passed and I still write him and sometimes we meet here in Italy.

And I'm making a lot of progress. =)

Thank you,
^___^

What an amazing experience! He's been a hero to me for a long time now, and I've had a mission to create a similar kind of community center for healing and growing and learning that he's tried to do with Gezundheit. My husband and I even bought land to make it happen, but then personal stuff and political stuff got in the way. But someday it will happen.

I wish you well in your journey to an even more loving and fun life!

Wup! This is great, Turil! Where are you trying to create the community???

I'll be back to Gesundheit! for the 3rd time in 3 years next July, I just can't wait!

Thank you very much for your words and energy and the super powers, I'm feeling them running deep inside of me!!!!! ^___^

We bought land in Nova Scotia, Canada, but we live in Massachusetts in the US. We might end up staying in the US now, but who knows...

I hope you share more of your stories and your experiences with us here at EVOKE, even though there isn't a lot of time left. But the site will still allow communication with friends, from what I understand, even if the blogs are closed.

That's amazing, Turil! =) I hope you realize your desires soon!

I'd have loved to participate in here from the very beginning telling stories and writing new ones with you all... I'm sorry I didn't know about Evoke even though I knew about Jane McGonigal's past works... argh... I really hope Evoke Ep.2 will start soon.

thank you for sharing your time with Patch Adams! I am glad you found your way to evoke, even if late in the 'game.'

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
