A crash course in changing the world.
At VersaLand, a 145-acre farm in Iowa City, farmers spend their time on the small research farm looking to innovate new ways to farm sustainably. Their most popular invention is their electric tractor. Powered by eight golf-cart batteries, the small tractor is fully capable of cultivating, planting, mowing and even hauling loads. It is completely electrical- no diesel needed. This innovation cut the costs of production by eliminating a fuel bill. Although the small tractor may not hold up well on a larger farm in the industry, it might just be a good way for small- to mid-sized farms to cut costs without cutting production ability.
