A crash course in changing the world.
EVOKE - IMAGINE2: No really it takes like 3 months to grow a potato plant to first harvest. And they said my zombie survival kit would be useless.
"I think I hate potatoes…" I say glaring at the offensive spud. Trying to make gnocchi out of it and the handful of flour I can use for today I impatiently burned myself on the hot tot trying to crush them too soon out of the hot water.
Potato Bannok, Potato Gnocchi, Potato casserole, potato filled potato seaweed balls.
"Aren't you Irish?" My roommate asks jokingly, referring to the amount of potatoes the Irish traditionally ate.
"1/4th Scottish actually but who would have thought that Potato would be a main staple in Japan."
She srugs.
Potatoes grow fast, they seed fast, they grow easily and everywhere and their prime breeding is in "Night Soil" something that anyone can get as a "Natural Fertilizer"
"I miss flour… Flour and sugar and cookies… And twinkles… Mostly twinkles."
Not that I could get Twinkies in Japan before the import ban hit, no one here liked them so they just were not sold. But still, loved those little wrapped deathcakes.
"Don't get me started, I don't want to think about it"
We both sigh dejectedly as a Guildmate enters with an old student of mine.
"Hana-chan came with fresh grapes from her parents farm! Well… like as fresh as grapes can be after being in the sun for 5 hours."
"Who! She came all the way out here!?!" I exclaim running out to meet her. She lived hours away from us especially by bike.
Grapes for dessert, Gnocchi and tomato sauce, a pickled cuc**ber and mixed vegetable salad with pickled eggplant and some plain omelettes mixed in with a small portion of rice for everyone. A community of people gathering in my restaurant, my home to share what little they had in a time when everyone had little.
"Nom nom nom. I love potatoes…"

The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
