'First early' potatoes - food security
I think it might be possible to feed a lot of people on potatoes.
Growing medium is an issue - it is possible to make some kinds of growing medium pretty fast: chicken manure plus stuff from food waste like coffee grounds. I am drawing diagrams for a system to make growing medium alongside the growing potatoes to add as required. Now it's probably clearer to people why I am breeding chickens! Chickens can feed off worms, yeast and scraps of plant material in growing medium that are inedible to humans - weed seeds etc.
Containers such as baskets allow several roots of tubers to grow from each potato plant. 20cm of growing medium to begin; after the sprout has grown up, add more medium. I am not yet certain of the limit of how many roots of tubers can be grown fro one plant but I am currently working on a 1m tall container. This slight vertical dimension could be important for density in production.
They need to be protected from frost but planted now could be harvested in May, maybe April if grown in greenhouses. They are ready to eat when the plant has flowered.

The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
