A crash course in changing the world.
"What you have matters more than what you lack (If you’ve got a bicycle, consider what you can build based on that, rather than worrying about not having a car, a truck, a metal shop".
I know from experience that this secret is vital. You can't use what you don't have. I have spent time living on the streets, raising myself and was on my own by 16 years old. Once I finally began working, it was always low paying jobs and living paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes I needed to get help from a local church, the food bank or the city to help pay electric bills. When something broke I either went without or figured out away to fix it. I bought my first computer when I was 24, after 8 years the monitor blew out. I fixed the monitor with duct tape and some tin foil. When the lights went out because I couldn't afford to pay the bill I rigged candles and tin foil to illuminate the house. I bought a bike for 20 bucks as a kid, mostly a frame...I made it ride by picking off parts from junk bikes that had been thrown out and were mostly destroyed and visiting bike collectors to ask for parts I needed. When we were kids we used to build skateboard ramps out of scrap lumber from construction sites. I have been doing these things my wh*** life.
I recently became unemployed and decided to plant a garden so I didn't have to spend so much at the grocery store. I got the seeds really cheap or from friends who had extra, I got horse manure from people giving it away free and I compost from stuff that already comes out of my kitchen. The materials have to either be cheap or free. When we wanted something bad enough, we always figured out a way to get it, fix it or make it. I believe I can use this skill to help others figure out how to achieve their desires as well. I look forward to the challenge!!
