Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

One of the biggest drivers of future crisis is known as the rapid growth of urban populations all over the world. Especially in developing countries this fast-paced trend will lead to urban slums. A studyof UN HABITAT estimates that by 2050, over 5 billion people will be living in cities, with an average of 30% living in slums. The development of slums is mostly accompanied by a lack access of clean water and adequate sanitation.

And this lack of clean water and sanitation would bring up several problems:
First criminality and corruption would explode - the provision of rare clean water and sanitation facilities in slums would grow to an attractive target for corruption, greed and exploitation. Therefore extortionate prices would appear and weaken the poor civil society in those slums enormously.
Next conflicts and political violence would occur - Slums mostly have a huge concentration of poverty which faced by rising prices for these rare goods would lead to direct conflicts among the water users. To provide their selves with water some would try to get it by using violence. Bad injuries and deaths would rise to agenda at daily routine. The living condition would become increasingly worse.
At least the risk of diseases would explode – With a constantly population growth, close proximity between animals and humans and poor health and sanitation conditions, the opportunities for new diseases would be huge in most slum areas.
This videoillustrates such conditions very well!

These issues of concern caused by a shortage of clean water and sanitation would be drivers of a future humanitarian crisis. It also would be very likely that the government in such a developing country would try to cover up such miserable conditions.
So the question arises which different kinds of data would be needed to track and what urgent information and resources could be shared at Ushahidi to inform the world about it.

Due to the point that the population in slums mostly is very poor and have no access to the internet it would be difficult to let them gather most information by their own. So there would be needed NGO´s or committing individuals to help them report. Maybe some reporters and scientists could travel in these slum cities an doc**ent the poor conditions, the violence and take samples of the polluted water. They also need to speak with affected people and discover where the sources of all problems come from.
Next all information should upload to Ushahidi, Youtube and spread all over the internet to get the attention of a big group of people. It also should been sent to the United Nations to reveal the covering and get humanitarian help. To find a suitable solution experiences from previous crisis should be used.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
