Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

My evokation is to create a wiki dedicated to gathering
indigenous knowledge from around the world. Including local languages,
customs, histories, stories, indigenous plant details and more. It
should be accessible to everyone and easy to add new information to. I'm
thinking that media-wiki would be a good platform. That way it could be
accessible to people anywhere and anyone could add their histories and
cultures to it. I would also use Google translate, so it could be
accessible in anyone's native language.
It shouldn't cost much to set this type of system up at all and with the
collaboration of people all over the globe this project could be the
indigenous version of Wikipedia. The things i would need for my
evokation are simple. A small server, domain name , some time and the
collaboration of others.

good idea - meira
you would need a local contact with each indigenous tribe or people who can help you with gathering information
In evoke4ever there's a friend of ours called MoE (Stefano Ciero). He set up a wiki for evoke
Maybe you could contact him too for help on the wiki

i have just come back from a stay with the talaandig tribe in bukidnon, mindanao. This message has come at the perfect time, as everything seems to at the moment, as I am utterly inspired and humbled by the extent of not only ISKP here in the Philippines, but also it's potential healing power http://talaandigsite.blogspot.com/
I will help with this site however i can.
I do hasten to add, however, that I find wiki spaces rather confusing environments. I have tried participating in a couple but am never left feeling satisfied. I am, of course, forever willing to persist.

what's your database going to do differently than the databases offered for indigenous knowledge investigation links? - not asking in way of doubt, but as advice for what to write about in the formal EVOKATION proposal.

This database is going to include actual content that everyone can access anywhere. So far the databases i've seen i haven't been able to get any information from. The Wiki environment will be fixed. I think a temporary blog will be set up. The wiki's been a little confusing. Next week i'll set it all up and clean up the wiki database.

Hello Meira, I see you are getting help to make this happen Congrats!
Are you planning to submit a formal version of this desire to Evoke?
What would you do with the seed funding then?
Whaen you have the page and everything please post it here. Thank you!
Comment by Meira Datiya on May 13, 2010 at 2:31pm
I have sent it formally to evoke. If i get the seed funding i would use it to buy a server and domain name for this network. With that i hope we can accomplish great things.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
