After speaking to a few people in the library, they didn't know anything about Vancouver's Resilience program. This may be because they are quite busy with school and work commitments and aren't locals. As they are under 20, I educated them on what Vancouver is doing with their
Youth Outreach program. This is a program to engage youth on the importance of voting as well as educates them on policy issues.
The Youth Social Planners assist in convening neighbourhood-based Youth Service Provider Networks to improve the coordination of critical
services, facilitate the development of youth hubs, serve on
intergovernmental tables on issues as diverse as combating gang
violence, the sexual exploitation of youth and improving the
coordination of funding for youth programs.
Over the coming year, I plan to get involved with a Vancouver resilience initiative.
